We are a group of North East photographers working on a project to
photograph local people who have an impact in whatever way upon life in
the North East… local people photographing local people for local people. Our main aim is to show our fellow North Easterners that the region is full of vibrant, independent and innovative people; a cast of characters to be proud of. People often forget that there is more to the North East than closed coal mines, or empty shipyard slips.People with business sense invest in the potential of the area,
companies like Nissan and Caterpillar and Siemens. We work! We innovate! And we are proud of our achievements. The heritage of men like Armstrong and
Stephenson are woven through the fabric of the North East’s story.

This is why we are travelling to and fro across Northumberland, County Durham and Tyne & Wear capturing the many moods of people of significance. Yes, we have the best coastline in the country, the best tasting lamb, some of the finest
buildings but we also have the people who bring this region to life.

It is those individuals who we wish to celebrate. Some may not be born, or even brought up, in the North East but they have become North Easterners through choice, and glad to be regarded as such.
